Tour Summery

This 5-day journey to Hampi and Badami offers a fascinating experience of South India’s rich history, ancient architecture and cultural heritage. The tour begins from Pune and travels towards Karnataka, first reaching Hubli before continuing to the historic town of Hampi.

Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was once the magnificent capital of the Vijayanagara Empire. Today it is famous for its spectacular ruins, ancient temples and stone monuments spread across a unique rocky landscape. Visitors will explore iconic attractions such as the Virupaksha Temple, Vittala Temple with its famous stone chariot and the beautiful Tungabhadra River surroundings.

The journey then continues to Badami, known for its ancient cave temples carved into sandstone cliffs. The town is also surrounded by scenic lakes and historic monuments. Nearby destinations such as Aihole and Pattadakal are famous for their remarkable temple architecture and are considered important centers of early Chalukyan art and architecture.

The tour concludes with a visit to Belgaum before returning to Pune with unforgettable memories of Karnataka’s rich history, impressive temples and unique landscapes.

Day 1

Day 1 – Pune to Hubli: Journey towards Karnataka

The journey begins from Pune early in the morning as the group travels towards Hubballi, an important commercial city in northern Karnataka. The drive passes through the scenic countryside of southern Maharashtra and northern Karnataka, offering views of agricultural fields, small villages, and peaceful rural landscapes.

Along the way, travelers can stop for short breaks at highway restaurants and enjoy local food. The gradual change in landscape and culture gives a pleasant start to the tour.

By afternoon or evening, the group reaches Hubli. After checking into the hotel, travelers can relax after the long drive. If time permits, a short visit can be made to Unkal Lake, a peaceful spot known for its scenic surroundings and evening sunset views.

The relaxed atmosphere of the city provides a comfortable halt before heading deeper into Karnataka’s historic regions. Dinner and overnight stay in Hubli.

Day 3

Day 3 – Hampi Sightseeing: Temples and Royal Structures

After breakfast, spend the day exploring the magnificent monuments of Hampi. The most iconic site is the Vittala Temple, famous for its stunning stone chariot and musical pillars. This temple complex represents the architectural brilliance of the Vijayanagara Empire.

Next visit the impressive Lotus Mahal, a unique palace structure known for its Indo-Islamic architectural style. Nearby are the massive Elephant Stables, where royal elephants were once housed.

Travelers also explore the Royal Enclosure area which contains ancient platforms, palace foundations, and ceremonial structures that once formed the heart of the Vijayanagara kingdom.

In the evening, visitors may climb Hemakuta Hill to enjoy a beautiful sunset view over the temple ruins and boulder-filled landscape.

Day 5

Day 5 – Badami to Pune via Belgaum

After breakfast, check out and begin the return journey towards Pune via Belagavi. The drive once again passes through scenic countryside and small towns of Karnataka and Maharashtra.On the way, travelers may stop in Belagavi to visit the historic Belagavi Fort or explore local markets known for traditional sweets and handicrafts.The journey continues through the Western Ghats before reaching Pune by evening.The tour concludes with wonderful memories of ancient temples, historic empires, unique rock-cut caves, and the extraordinary landscapes of Hampi and Badami. Travelers return home with a deeper appreciation of India’s rich cultural and architectural heritage.

Day 2

Day 2 – Hubli to Hampi: Enter the Vijayanagara Empire

After breakfast, check out and begin the drive towards Hampi, one of the most fascinating historical destinations in India. As the road approaches Hampi, the landscape dramatically changes into a surreal terrain filled with giant boulders, rocky hills, and ancient temple ruins.

Hampi was once the capital of the powerful Vijayanagara Empire and today it is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After arriving and checking into the hotel, begin exploring this remarkable historic region.

The first visit is to the famous Virupaksha Temple, one of the oldest functioning temples in India dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple complex stands tall beside the Tungabhadra River and has been a place of worship for centuries.

Later walk through the historic Hampi Bazaar, an ancient market street once filled with traders from across the world.

The evening atmosphere with ancient ruins and dramatic landscapes makes Hampi feel like an open-air museum. Overnight stay in Hampi.

Day 4

Day 4 – Hampi to Badami: Cave Temples and Ancient Architecture

After breakfast, check out and drive towards Badami, another historic destination known for its rock-cut cave temples. The journey offers scenic views of Karnataka’s countryside.

On arrival in Badami, begin exploring the famous Badami Cave Temples carved into sandstone cliffs overlooking the beautiful Agastya Lake. These ancient caves date back to the 6th century and contain impressive carvings of Hindu and Jain deities.

Nearby visit the beautiful Bhutanatha Temple, located beside the lake and offering stunning reflections of the surrounding hills in the water.

If time permits, travelers can also visit nearby heritage sites like Pattadakal and Aihole, which are famous for early temple architecture.

After sightseeing, check into the hotel for dinner and overnight stay in Badami.

  • 0% Cancellation for any land package bookings 45 Days before departure.

  • 30% Cancellation for any land package bookings 15 Days before departure.

  • 100% Cancellation for any land package bookings 7 Days before departure.

  • Cancellation of Air/ Train Tickets subject to cancellation policy of respective train/ flight operator.

Advanced Preparation

  • As everyone is becoming a frequent traveller now, we suggest that you make your own travel accessories kit to ensure a stress free holiday.

  • Always make sure to carry less and light luggage, use a four wheel small or medium suitcase and please make sure that you are carrying only one suitcase per person. This will ensure that you will travel smartly and without any inconveniences.
