Day wise Itinerary
Day 1 – Ahmedabad → Bhuj
Your exciting Kutch Festival journey begins from Ahmedabad, the vibrant capital of Gujarat. After an early morning departure, the road gradually takes you away from the city buzz and into the peaceful landscapes of Saurashtra and Kutch. As you drive along the smooth Ahmedabad–Bhuj highway, the scenery shifts from green fields to semi-desert stretches, giving you a first glimpse of the land of white sands.
En route, you may stop for a refreshing breakfast at a local dhaba. The further you move towards Kutch, the more earthy and rustic the surroundings become—small villages, mud houses, colourful turbans, and camel carts silently telling you that you’ve entered a culturally rich region.
By afternoon, you reach Bhuj, the traditional gateway to Kutch. After check-in and a short rest, your exploration begins.Start with a visit to Aina Mahal, the 18th-century “Palace of Mirrors,” known for its intricate glasswork, Belgian chandeliers and royal charm. Just next door stands Prag Mahal, a grand Gothic-style palace where towering arches, royal halls and old clock towers make you feel like you’ve walked into a living history book.
From there, drive to Bhujodi Village, home to some of Kutch’s finest weavers. Here, artisans demonstrate handloom weaving, shawl making and traditional Kutchi patterns passed down through generations. It’s a great place to shop authentic handicrafts.
End your first day with a peaceful walk around Hamirsar Lake, watching the sunset paint Bhuj in golden shades.
Return to the hotel for dinner and rest—your Kutch adventure has just begun!
Day 2 – Bhuj → Kala Dungar → Dhordo (White Rann)
Your second day begins with the warm desert breeze of Bhuj as you enjoy a refreshing breakfast and prepare to enter the magical lands of the Great Rann. Leaving Bhuj behind, the route takes you through rustic Kutch villages, open desert plains and long stretches of peaceful roads. Every mile forward feels like you’re slowly stepping into another world.
Your first halt is Kala Dungar (Black Hill)—the highest point in Kutch. As you drive uphill, the landscape widens like an endless painting. From the top, the panoramic view of the White Rann is breathtaking. The horizon merges into the sky, giving you a sense of standing at the edge of the world. Also visit the 400-year-old Dattatreya Temple, known for its unique local legends and serene ambience.
After soaking in the views, continue your journey toward Dhordo, famously known as the Tent City—the heart of the Kutch Festival. The drive towards Mandvi feels like watching Gujarat shift from desert silence to coastal charm. Your first major stop is the royal Vijay Vilas Palace, one of the finest examples of Kutch architecture. Built by the Maharao of Kutch, the palace features beautifully carved jharokhas, sandstone arches, coloured glass windows, and grand corridors. Soft sand, gentle waves and the refreshing sea breeze make this the perfect place to relax after days in the desert. You can enjoy camel rides, light snacks, seashell collecting, or simply sit by the shore watching fishermen bring in their colourful boats. Mandvi’s sunset is one of the most magical moments of the tour. As the sun dips into the Arabian Sea, the sky turns shades of orange and purple, creating a calming end to your day.
