Day wise Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival at Guwahati | Brahmaputra & Temple Trails

Your journey to the sacred land of Assam begins as you arrive in Guwahati, the gateway to Northeast India. The warm, humid air mixed with greenery immediately signals that you have entered a different rhythm of life—slower, calmer, and closer to nature. After a smooth pickup from the airport or railway station, you are transferred to your hotel where you check in and freshen up.

The rest of the day is planned gently, allowing everyone to relax after the journey. In the afternoon, you proceed towards the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra River. Watching the wide river flow silently, with boats gliding across and hills standing quietly in the background, brings a sense of peace and grounding. If weather permits, you may enjoy a short river cruise, offering beautiful views of Guwahati city from the water.

Later, you visit Umananda Temple, located on a small river island. The ferry ride itself is a pleasant experience, and the temple’s quiet atmosphere makes it an ideal place to settle into the spiritual mood of the tour. As evening approaches, you return to the city, passing through lively streets filled with local shops and eateries.

The night is kept relaxed with dinner at the hotel. Conversations flow, excitement builds for the Kamakhya darshan the next morning, and the group slowly unwinds. The day ends with a comfortable overnight stay in Guwahati, preparing both body and mind for the sacred experience ahead.

Day 2 – Kamakhya Temple Darshan | A Divine Morning

The day begins early, well before sunrise, as the group prepares for one of the most significant spiritual moments of the tour—darshan at Kamakhya Temple. The drive uphill through Nilachal Hills feels serene, with cool morning air and chants echoing softly in the surroundings. As you reach the temple complex, there is a palpable sense of devotion and energy.

Darshan at Kamakhya is not just a ritual but an experience. The ancient temple, one of the most powerful Shakti Peeths in India, carries a deep spiritual vibration. Standing in the queue, surrounded by devotees from different parts of the country, you feel a shared faith and humility. The darshan itself is brief yet intense, leaving behind a sense of calm, gratitude, and inner strength.

After darshan, you spend some quiet time within the temple premises before heading back to the hotel for breakfast. The rest of the morning is kept easy, allowing everyone to rest and reflect. Later in the day, you visit Navagraha Temple, situated on a hilltop offering panoramic views of Guwahati. The temple is associated with the nine celestial bodies and adds another spiritual layer to the journey.

You may also visit the Balaji Temple, known for its peaceful ambiance and beautiful architecture. The evening is free for leisure—some choose to rest, while others explore nearby local markets to buy souvenirs or traditional Assamese items.

Dinner is served at the hotel, and the group retires early after a fulfilling and spiritually rich day.

Day 3 – Guwahati to Shillong | Journey into the Hills

After breakfast, you check out from the hotel and begin your drive towards Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya. The journey itself is a highlight, as the landscape slowly transforms from plains to rolling hills. The road is surrounded by dense greenery, misty stretches, and waterfalls cascading down the rocks, especially beautiful during the monsoon season.

En route, you stop at the stunning Umiam Lake. The vast water body, framed by green hills and cloudy skies, creates a postcard-perfect scene. This is an ideal spot for photography and quiet moments, allowing the group to soak in the beauty of nature.

Continuing the drive, you reach Shillong by afternoon. The town welcomes you with its pleasant weather, colonial charm, and relaxed vibe. After checking in to your hotel, the rest of the day is kept light. Some travelers prefer to rest, while others step out to explore the nearby surroundings.

In the evening, you may visit Police Bazaar, the heart of Shillong. The market is lively yet comfortable, offering local handicrafts, woolens, cafes, and street food. Walking through the bazaar, you experience the culture and everyday life of the hill town.

Dinner is enjoyed at the hotel or a nearby restaurant, followed by a peaceful overnight stay. The cool hill air and quiet surroundings ensure a restful sleep.

From here, you get a breathtaking view of the entire town, valleys, and distant hills covered in clouds. The fresh air and scenic panorama make it a refreshing start to the day.

Next, you visit Elephant Falls, one of the most popular waterfalls in Meghalaya. During the monsoon season, the waterfall is at its best, flowing strongly over rocky steps and surrounded by thick greenery. The sound of water and mist in the air create a soothing atmosphere, perfect for photographs and quiet admiration.

Later, you may visit the Don Bosco Museum, which offers insight into the culture, traditions, and lifestyle of Northeast India. The museum adds depth to the journey, helping travelers understand the region beyond its natural beauty.

The afternoon is free for rest and leisure. Some may choose to sit back at the hotel, while others explore cafes or enjoy short walks in the neighborhood. Shillong’s charm lies in its unhurried pace, making even simple moments enjoyable.
