Day wise Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Guwahati – Transfer to Kaziranga (200 km / 4 hrs)
Welcome to Assam! Upon arrival at Guwahati Airport/Railway Station, meet our representative and begin your scenic drive to Kaziranga National Park — a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for the one-horned rhinoceros. The journey takes you through the lush green countryside of Assam, dotted with tea gardens and river landscapes. Check-in to your hotel/resort near the park. In the evening, enjoy a visit to the Kaziranga Orchid and Biodiversity Park which features hundreds of orchid varieties, traditional tribal huts, folk performances, and medicinal gardens. If time permits, witness a vibrant Assamese cultural dance show performed by local tribes. Relax with a traditional Assamese dinner and prepare for an adventurous day tomorrow inside the forest. Overnight stay in Kaziranga.
Day 2: Kaziranga National Park – Jungle Safari
Rise early for an exciting elephant safari through the tall grasslands of Kaziranga. As the mist clears, you may spot the iconic one-horned rhinos, herds of elephants, swamp deer, and exotic bird species. After breakfast, return to the hotel to freshen up. Later in the day, head for a jeep safari in the Western Range of Kaziranga — a prime zone for wildlife sightings. Keep your camera ready as this area often reveals tigers, wild buffaloes, and a variety of migratory birds. Post safari, you may explore a local village to understand the lifestyle of indigenous communities. In the evening, unwind at the hotel or explore local markets for handicrafts and handloom items. Dinner and overnight stay in Kaziranga.
Day 3: Kaziranga to Bomdila (212 km / 6–7 hrs)
Today we begin our journey into the Eastern Himalayas. After breakfast, drive toward Bomdila, a quaint hill town in Arunachal Pradesh known for its scenic landscapes and Buddhist culture. En route, pass through Bhalukpong — the entry point to Arunachal — and undergo permit checks. Enjoy the changing scenery as plains give way to mountains, waterfalls, and pine forests. Upon reaching Bomdila, visit the beautiful Bomdila Monastery which reflects Tibetan architecture and offers a peaceful ambience for reflection. The town is also home to a crafts center and local market selling woolen clothes and traditional artifacts. Relax in the cool mountain weather and enjoy a warm dinner. Overnight stay in Bomdila.
Day 4: Bomdila to Tawang via Sela Pass (175 km / 6–7 hrs)
After an early breakfast, begin the spectacular drive to Tawang. En route, cross the magnificent Sela Pass at 13,700 ft — often covered in snow and surrounded by prayer flags. Stop at Sela Lake, a serene glacial lake that reflects the sky and clouds like a mirror. Next, visit Jaswantgarh War Memorial, built in honor of Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat of the Indian Army. A hot cup of tea here is a must! Continue descending into the Tawang valley through dramatic landscapes, tribal hamlets, and army camps. Arrive in Tawang by evening and check into your hotel. Enjoy a hearty meal and soak in the unique blend of Tibetan-Buddhist culture and high-altitude serenity. Overnight in Tawang.
Day 5: Tawang Monastery & Local Sightseeing
After breakfast, visit the legendary Tawang Monastery — the largest in India and second-largest in the world. Over 300 years old, this monastery houses ancient scriptures, thanka paintings, and a giant golden Buddha statue. Then head to Urgelling Monastery, the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama. Also visit the craft center, where you can see monks and locals creating traditional masks, carpets, and wooden artifacts. Later, explore the Tawang War Memorial dedicated to the 1962 Indo-China war, and experience the light & sound show in the evening (subject to availability). Walk around the town’s vibrant market for souvenirs, prayer flags, and locally made items. Overnight in Tawang.
Day 6: Excursion to Bumla Pass & Madhuri Lake
Get ready for a high-altitude adventure! With a special permit, drive up to Bumla Pass (15,200 ft) on the Indo-China border. The terrain is stark yet beautiful, with snowfields, rocky slopes, and army outposts. Meet Indian Army personnel and learn about their heroic role in guarding the borders. On the return, visit Madhuri Lake (also called Sangestar Tso), made famous by the Bollywood film "Koyla." Surrounded by snow-dusted peaks and fallen tree trunks sticking out of icy blue water, it’s a breathtaking sight. Stop at P.T. Tso Lake on the way back, known for its changing colors. Return to Tawang by late afternoon and spend the evening at leisure. Overnight in Tawang.
Day 7: Tawang – Dirang – Guwahati (430 km / 10–11 hrs)
After an early breakfast, begin your long descent back to Assam. Drive past the beautiful Dirang Valley and stop briefly for sightseeing — visit Dirang Dzong, hot water springs, and Kiwi orchards. The route follows river valleys, mountain ridges, and charming tribal villages. By late evening, arrive in Guwahati and check in to your hotel. Freshen up and relax after the long but scenic journey. Overnight stay in Guwahati.
Day 8: Guwahati – Shillong – Cherrapunji (165 km / 5–6 hrs)
Post breakfast, drive towards Meghalaya — the “Abode of Clouds.” Stop at Umiam Lake (Barapani), a tranquil reservoir surrounded by pine forests. Proceed to Shillong for brief sightseeing at Ward’s Lake, Lady Hydari Park, and Police Bazaar. Then continue to Cherrapunji, one of the wettest places on Earth. Along the way, visit Elephant Falls and Shillong Peak for panoramic views. On arrival in Cherrapunji, check into your hotel. If time permits, explore Nohkalikai Falls — India’s tallest plunge waterfall — and enjoy the dramatic cliffs and canyons. Overnight in Cherrapunji.
Day 9: Cherrapunji – Mawlynnong – Dawki – Shillong
After breakfast, take a day trip to Mawlynnong — acclaimed as the cleanest village in Asia. Walk on the Living Root Bridge built by Khasi tribes, and interact with locals about their eco-friendly lifestyle. Next, drive to Dawki, famous for the crystal-clear Umngot River. Enjoy a serene boat ride where boats seem to float on air. You can also see Bangladesh across the border at Tamabil. Return to Shillong by evening and check in to your hotel. Overnight in Shillong.
Day 10: Shillong Sightseeing – Return to Guwahati (100 km / 3 hrs)
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and visit the Don Bosco Museum, showcasing the tribal heritage of Northeast India. Stroll through Shillong’s charming lanes or shop for souvenirs in Police Bazaar. By noon, begin your return journey to Guwahati. Visit the revered Kamakhya Temple located atop Nilachal Hill, offering views of the Brahmaputra River. If time permits, you can also visit Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra or take a Brahmaputra sunset cruise. Check into your hotel and enjoy a farewell dinner. Overnight in Guwahati.
Day 11: Departure from Guwahati
Today marks the end of your Northeast adventure. After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Guwahati Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey. Carry with you not just souvenirs, but also unforgettable memories of mountains, monasteries, rhinos, rivers, and vibrant tribal cultures.
