Day wise Itinerary
Day 1: Guwahati Arrival – Transfer to Shillong
Your journey begins on arrival at Guwahati, the gateway to Northeast India. After pickup from the airport or railway station, proceed to visit the sacred Kamakhya Temple, located on Nilachal Hill. This ancient temple is one of the most important Shakti Peethas in India and attracts devotees from across the country. The spiritual atmosphere and the panoramic view of the Brahmaputra River create a peaceful start to your tour.
After darshan, begin your scenic drive to Shillong, which takes around 3–4 hours. As you leave Assam and enter Meghalaya, you will notice the landscape gradually changing to rolling green hills and misty surroundings. En route, stop at the beautiful Umiam Lake, also known as Barapani. Surrounded by hills, this vast reservoir offers a perfect photo opportunity and a refreshing break.
On arrival in Shillong, check in to your hotel and relax. In the evening, you may explore Police Bazaar, the main shopping hub of the city, known for local handicrafts and street food. Enjoy the cool weather and relaxed hill station vibe.Overnight stay in Shillong.
Day 2: Shillong Local Sightseeing
After breakfast, begin exploring Shillong, often referred to as the “Scotland of the East.” The city is known for its pleasant climate, colonial charm, and scenic beauty. Start your day with visits to popular viewpoints offering panoramic views of the surrounding Khasi Hills.
You may explore beautiful waterfalls around Shillong, where water flows through rocky cliffs surrounded by lush greenery. The peaceful atmosphere and fresh mountain air make the experience refreshing and enjoyable. Shillong is also known for its clean streets, vibrant culture, and friendly locals.

Day 3: Excursion to Cherrapunji
After breakfast, proceed for a full-day excursion to Cherrapunji, famous for its dramatic landscapes and heavy rainfall. The drive from Shillong to Cherrapunji takes about 2–3 hours and passes through scenic valleys and cloud-covered hills.
Visit the breathtaking Nohkalikai Falls, one of the tallest plunge waterfalls in India. The sight of water cascading from a great height into a deep blue pool below is truly spectacular. Continue to see the magnificent Seven Sisters Falls, especially impressive during the monsoon season.

As you descend from the Khasi Hills towards the plains of Assam, you will notice the gradual change in terrain and temperature.
On arrival in Guwahati, check in to your hotel and relax. Later, you may explore the city at your own pace. You can visit local markets to purchase Assamese tea, traditional handicrafts, and souvenirs. If time permits, enjoy a peaceful walk along the banks of the Brahmaputra River and experience the calm riverfront atmosphere.
