Day wise Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Guwahati – Drive to Kaziranga (Approx. 4.5 hrs)

Namaskar Assam! Touchdown at Guwahati airport and let the adventure begin. After a quick round of hellos, hop into your ride as we head straight to the wild heart of Assam — Kaziranga National Park. The drive itself is a treat, with tea gardens rolling like green carpets and Assamese villages dotting the way.

By the time you reach Kaziranga, the air will already feel different — crisper, calmer, and a tad bit wild. After checking into your cozy jungle resort, take some time to unwind. Maybe sip a hot chai on the porch and listen to the distant calls of birds and rustling leaves.

Evening is all yours — take a stroll around the resort, click some golden-hour pictures, or just relax and get ready for the thrilling safari tomorrow. Dinner is a hearty local spread — spicy, smoky, and soul-satisfying. Get a good night's sleep — tomorrow, you meet the rhinos!

Day 2: Safari at Kaziranga – Drive to Kohima (Approx. 6–7 hrs)

Rise and shine, jungle explorers! Today begins with an early morning jeep safari in the Eastern Range of Kaziranga. The forest is alive at dawn — dewdrops on tall grasses, mist swirling over the wetlands, and suddenly, a one-horned rhinoceros grazing just a few feet away! Spot wild elephants, hog deer, swamp deer, and vibrant migratory birds. It’s not just a safari — it’s a soul-stirring connection with nature.

After breakfast, pack your bags and gear up for the journey to Nagaland. The road to Kohima is scenic — winding hills, bamboo groves, and tribal hamlets along the way. By late evening, arrive in Kohima, the charming capital of Nagaland, nestled in misty hills.

Check-in, freshen up, and enjoy a warm Naga-style dinner — expect smoky meats, sticky rice, and spicy chutneys! You're now at the gateway to the Hornbill Festival — the grandest cultural celebration in the northeast. Rest well, big day tomorrow!

Day 3: Explore Hornbill Festival at Kisama Heritage Village

Ready for a riot of colors, sounds, and smiles? After breakfast, head straight to Kisama Heritage Village, the epicenter of the Hornbill Festival. Imagine this: 16 Naga tribes in traditional warrior attire, drumming, chanting, dancing, and celebrating their heritage with unmatched pride.

Watch the tribal dances that echo ancient war cries, listen to soulful folk songs, and witness indigenous sports and games that’ll leave you amazed. The atmosphere is electric — bamboo stalls line the paths, selling handwoven shawls, bamboo mugs, smoked pork, rice beer, and hand-carved souvenirs.

Don’t miss the cultural parades, wrestling matches, and musical evenings. And the food? Oh, it’s a carnival in itself — try smoked pork with bamboo shoot, sticky rice cakes, and fiery chutneys if you dare!

Return to Kohima in the evening with your heart full and your camera roll overflowing. The Hornbill Festival isn’t just an event — it’s a celebration of identity, pride, and the power of tradition. Sleep with tribal beats still ringing in your ears.

Day 4: More Hornbill Vibes + Kohima City Exploration

If yesterday was the showstopper, today is the encore. After breakfast, head back to the Hornbill Festival grounds to catch any events you may have missed — maybe a headgear-making workshop, wood carving demo, or another round of that soulful tribal choir.

Later, it’s time to explore Kohima city — visit the iconic Kohima War Cemetery, a beautifully maintained tribute to the soldiers who fell in the Battle of Kohima during WWII. The silence here is powerful, the views even more so.

Next stop — Kohima Cathedral, known for its unique architecture and panoramic views. Roam around the local market, where you’ll find everything from Naga spices to handcrafted souvenirs.

Evening? How about a cultural performance followed by a cozy dinner with local flavors? You’ll start to feel like one of the locals by now — warm, proud, and deeply connected to the land.

Day 5: Visit to Khonoma – India’s First Green Village

Today we go deeper — not just into the hills, but into the very heart of sustainable living. After breakfast, take a short scenic drive to Khonoma, India’s first declared Green Village. This place is legendary — not just for its eco-friendly farming, but also for its resistance against British forces back in the day.

Walk through stone-paved alleys, traditional Naga homes, and lush terraced farms. Meet locals who’ll share stories of their warrior ancestors, their sacred forests, and how the village came together to protect nature like family.

The views? Think emerald-green hills, clouds floating below you, and silence broken only by chirping birds and rustling leaves.

Enjoy a traditional meal cooked over firewood — simple, soulful, and unforgettable. By evening, return to Kohima with a new perspective — one that balances culture with conservation.

Day 6: Kohima to Dimapur – Journey Through Tribal Heartland (Approx. 3 hrs)

After breakfast, bid farewell to Kohima and take a scenic drive down to Dimapur. The drive is pleasant, dotted with tribal villages, bamboo forests, and sleepy hamlets. Dimapur might be the commercial center of Nagaland, but it holds ancient secrets too.

Once in town, check into your hotel and later visit the 13th-century Kachari Ruins — moss-covered, mysterious, and full of unanswered questions. These relics whisper tales from a time before time, with their mushroom-domed structures and carved stones.

You can also explore local markets, where modern hustle meets tribal color. Pick up those last-minute souvenirs — Naga jewelry, wood carvings, and smoked goodies.

Unwind in the evening over a farewell dinner — laugh over memories, relive favorite moments, and pack your bags with more than just stuff — this trip leaves your soul heavier and happier.

Day 7: Departure from Dimapur to Guwahati Airport (or Train Station)

All good things must pause — not end, just pause until the next adventure. After breakfast, you’ll be assisted for your transfer to Dimapur Railway Station or back to Guwahati Airport (as per your departure plan).

As you head home, the colors of the Naga tribes, the roar of rhinos, the taste of bamboo shoots, and the spirit of the northeast will travel with you. You've not just seen Assam and Nagaland — you've felt them, danced with them, and become a part of their story.

Until next time… northeast awaits you with another tale.
