From Kolkata, the journey continues to Gangasagar, one of the most sacred pilgrimage destinations for Hindus where the holy River Ganga meets the Bay of Bengal.

Gangasagar is famous for the Kapil Muni Temple and the sacred confluence where pilgrims take a holy dip to seek blessings and spiritual purification. The peaceful island atmosphere and devotional environment make the visit a unique spiritual experience.

After the pilgrimage at Gangasagar, the journey proceeds towards the world-famous Sundarban region, home to the largest mangrove forest in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Day wise Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival in Kolkata

Arrival at Kolkata Airport or Railway Station, where our representative will welcome you and assist with the transfer to your hotel. Kolkata, formerly known as Calcutta, is the cultural and historical capital of eastern India. The city is famous for its colonial architecture, vibrant markets, temples and rich traditions.

After check-in at the hotel, take some time to relax after your journey. Later proceed for local sightseeing of Kolkata. Begin with a visit to the famous Dakshineswar Kali Temple, one of the most important temples dedicated to Goddess Kali. The temple is located on the banks of the Hooghly River and is an important pilgrimage site visited by thousands of devotees every day.

Next visit the beautiful Belur Math, the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Mission. The temple complex is known for its peaceful surroundings and unique architecture that combines elements of Hindu, Christian and Islamic styles.

Later drive through the city to see the iconic Howrah Bridge, one of the busiest bridges in India and an important landmark of Kolkata. Visitors may also explore the nearby markets and streets which showcase the lively culture of the city.

In the evening return to the hotel. Kolkata offers a wonderful blend of heritage, spirituality and culture, making it a perfect starting point for this journey.

Day 2 – Kolkata to Gangasagar

After an early breakfast, begin the journey towards Gangasagar, one of the most sacred pilgrimage destinations in India. The journey from Kolkata to Gangasagar involves a scenic road drive followed by a ferry ride across the Muriganga River to reach Sagar Island.

Gangasagar holds immense religious importance because it is the place where the holy River Ganga meets the Bay of Bengal. According to Hindu beliefs, taking a holy dip at this sacred confluence brings spiritual purification and blessings.

Upon arrival at Gangasagar, proceed to the Gangasagar Sangam where pilgrims gather to take a holy dip in the waters. The peaceful surroundings and the sound of prayers create a deeply spiritual atmosphere.

Later visit the famous Kapil Muni Temple, dedicated to Sage Kapil, which is one of the most important temples on the island. Devotees from across the country visit this temple to offer prayers and seek blessings.

Day 3 – Gangasagar to Sundarban

After breakfast check out from the hotel and begin the journey towards the famous Sundarban region, known for its vast mangrove forests and rich wildlife. Sundarban is the largest mangrove forest in the world and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

On arrival in Sundarban, check in at the resort or eco-lodge. After lunch, begin your first boat safari through the mangrove creeks and rivers of the Sundarban. Travelling through these narrow waterways offers a wonderful opportunity to observe the unique ecosystem of the region.

The Sundarban forest is home to many species of wildlife including the famous Royal Bengal Tiger, spotted deer, wild boars, crocodiles and a wide variety of birds. While sightings depend on luck, the journey through the mangrove forests itself is an exciting experience.

Later visit the Sajnekhali Watch Tower and Mangrove Interpretation Centre, where visitors can learn about the wildlife and ecosystem of the Sundarban region. The watch tower also provides a chance to observe animals that often gather near the water bodies.

Day 4 – Sundarban Wildlife Exploration

After an early breakfast, begin another exciting day exploring the beautiful Sundarban mangrove forests. Sundarban is one of the most unique ecosystems in the world and is famous for its dense mangrove vegetation, winding rivers and rich biodiversity. The region forms the largest mangrove forest on the planet and is home to a variety of wildlife species.

The day begins with a boat safari through the forest waterways, which is the best way to explore Sundarban. Travelling through narrow creeks surrounded by mangrove trees gives visitors a chance to experience the raw beauty of nature. During the safari, travellers may spot animals such as spotted deer, wild boars, monkeys, crocodiles and several species of birds.

One of the highlights of the day is a visit to the Sudhanyakhali Watch Tower, which is one of the most popular watch towers in Sundarban. This watch tower overlooks a freshwater pond where animals frequently come to drink water, increasing the chances of wildlife sightings.

The safari may also include visits to other watch towers such as Dobanki Watch Tower, where visitors can walk along a canopy walkway that offers a panoramic view of the forest. This elevated walkway allows travellers to observe wildlife and the mangrove ecosystem from a safe distance.

Throughout the journey, experienced boat guides share interesting information about the forest, wildlife and the unique mangrove environment of Sundarban.

After completing the safari, return to the resort in the afternoon. The evening can be spent relaxing at the resort or exploring the nearby village area to understand the lifestyle of the local communities living around the forest.

Day 5 – Sundarban to Kolkata Departure

After breakfast check out from the resort and begin the return journey towards Kolkata. The journey involves a boat ride through the river channels followed by a road drive back to the city.

During the return journey, travellers once again experience the scenic beauty of the Sundarban region. The calm rivers, mangrove forests and peaceful surroundings make the journey relaxing and memorable. Visitors can also observe the daily life of the local communities who depend on fishing, honey collection and small-scale farming for their livelihood.

Upon arrival in Kolkata, depending on the departure schedule, travellers may visit some of the city’s famous landmarks. Optional visits may include Victoria Memorial, a grand white marble monument built during the British era, and St. Paul’s Cathedral, one of the most beautiful churches in the city.

Visitors may also explore local markets where traditional handicrafts, Bengali sweets and souvenirs are available. Kolkata is famous for its rich cultural heritage, delicious cuisine and vibrant street life.

Later you will be transferred to Kolkata Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey.

The tour concludes with wonderful memories of the spiritual experience at Gangasagar and the adventurous wildlife exploration in the Sundarban mangrove forests.

  • As everyone is becoming a frequent traveller now, we suggest that you make your own travel accessories kit to ensure a stress free holiday.

  • Always make sure to carry less and light luggage, use a four wheel small or medium suitcase and please make sure that you are carrying only one suitcase per person. This will ensure that you will travel smartly and without any inconveniences.

  • It is also recommended that you have one cross shoulder bag or haversack for your handy needs which will ensure that you are comfortable at the time of sightseeing and also easy for photography during your tour.
