Day 1: Guwahati to Dirang – Entering Arunachal

Your Assam & Arunachal Scenic Escape begins from Guwahati early in the morning. After pickup, you start your scenic drive towards Arunachal Pradesh. The journey takes around 7–8 hours and gradually moves from plains to beautiful hills.

You enter Arunachal at Bhalukpong, a small town located along the Kameng River. Surrounded by forested hills, this entry point gives your first glimpse of the natural beauty of the Northeast. After permit formalities (if required), continue the drive towards Dirang.

The road passes through lush valleys, flowing rivers, waterfalls, and small tribal villages. As you gain altitude, the air becomes cooler and fresher. By evening, arrive at Dirang. Check in to your hotel and relax.

If time permits, visit Dirang Monastery or take a short walk near the river. Overnight stay in Dirang.

Day 2: Dirang to Tawang – Crossing Sela Pass

After breakfast, begin one of the most exciting drives of the tour towards Tawang. Today’s journey is filled with breathtaking mountain views.

En route, cross the famous Sela Pass at around 13,700 feet above sea level. The snow-covered mountains and the serene Sela Lake create a magical experience. The landscape here often looks like a postcard, especially during winter or early spring.

Continue the drive through winding mountain roads and scenic valleys. Stop at Jaswant Garh War Memorial, built in memory of a brave Indian soldier.

By afternoon or evening, arrive in Tawang and check into your hotel. Rest and acclimatize to the high altitude.

Day 3: Tawang Local Sightseeing – Monasteries & Lakes

After breakfast, begin exploring Tawang.

Start with a visit to the famous Tawang Monastery, one of the largest monasteries in India. The peaceful surroundings and chanting prayers create a spiritual atmosphere. The monastery offers stunning views of the valley below.

Next, visit Tawang War Memorial, dedicated to Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives. Later, proceed to Madhuri Lake (Sangetsar Lake), surrounded by mountains and known for its calm beauty.

You may also visit PT Tso Lake and nearby viewpoints depending on weather and road conditions.

Return to hotel by evening. Overnight stay in Tawang.

Day 4: Tawang to Bomdila – Scenic Descent

After breakfast, check out and begin your return journey towards Bomdila.

Drive back via Sela Pass once again, enjoying the majestic mountain scenery from a different perspective. The descending journey offers beautiful valley views and peaceful roadside stops.

Upon arrival in Bomdila, visit Bomdila Monastery and enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges. The cool weather and quiet surroundings make it a perfect place to relax.

Check in to your hotel and unwind after the long drive.

Day 5: Bomdila to Guwahati – Return with Mountain Memories

After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Bomdila and begin your return journey to Guwahati. The drive takes around 7–8 hours, gradually descending from the cool mountain climate to the warmer plains of Assam.

As you travel back through the scenic roads of Arunachal Pradesh, you once again pass through beautiful valleys, river crossings, and forest stretches. The winding mountain roads now feel familiar, but the views still remain breathtaking. The Kameng River flows alongside parts of the journey, adding charm to the drive.

You will cross Bhalukpong, the gateway town to Arunachal, where you exit the state and re-enter Assam. This marks the end of your mountain adventure.

En route, you may stop for lunch at a local restaurant and enjoy simple North-Eastern cuisine. The return journey gives everyone time to relax, share photos, and relive the best moments of the trip — from crossing the majestic Sela Pass to visiting the peaceful monasteries of Tawang and enjoying the stunning high-altitude lakes.

By evening, you arrive in Guwahati. If time permits, you may visit the famous Kamakhya Temple (optional) or enjoy a short walk along the Brahmaputra riverfront before drop-off.
