The 29th state of India, Telangana is located in South-Eastern (Deccan) India. The name Telangana, is said to have been derived from the word Trilinga, which translates to the native language means "the land of the three lingas". According to a Hindu legend, Lord Shiva descended in the form of lingam on three mountains, Kaleshwaram, Srisailam and Draksharama, which marked the boundaries of the Trilingadesa, currently Telangana. Also the name distinguishes the mainly Telugu-speaking region of the former Hyderabad State from its predominantly Marathi-speaking, Marathwada.
