Among the list of treks that Himachal Pradesh takes pride in, Hampta Pass somehow seizes the limelight. Sitting at an altitude of 4270 m, this pass on the Pir Panjal range gives its travelers just the right mix of wooded stretches, alpine meadows, shimmering streams, and glaciers. Hampta pass is generally known as a small corridor between Lahaul's Chandra Valley and lush Kullu valley of Himachal Pradesh. The trek is moderate in nature and can be enjoyed by beginners who are looking for a quick getaway.

Imagine walking past the verdant forests with the whiff of Himalayan Cedar, Oak, Pine, Juniper, and Rhododendron. As you leave behind the forests, the next view you get is of the bright green valleys, that takes you closer to the pass. Be careful as there will be a lot of sharp climbs coupled with traversing the glistening streams. Every step you take leads you to the Hampta Pass where all you get are the astounding view of the Lahaul valley. That?s Hampta Pass trek for you.

Further, the camping sites are going to win your heart with their perfect picture postcards. You also get an opportunity to behold the sight of the moon shaped lake, Chandratal and Rohtang Pass.

Day 01 :

Manali to Jobri to Chikka (3,140m) (Trek for 2-3 hours)

Upon your arrival at Manali, our tour guide will meet you at the bus stand and escort you to the hotel. Here you can freshen up and relish your morning meal. After that, you will be leaving for Jobri nullah by taxi. The actual trek will begin from Alain Duhangan Hydel Power Project site. Lunch is planned on the way. After walking for a while you will cross a wooden bridge towards the night camping site at Chikka and will sight the Rani nullah. The camping site is set amid the scenic beauty of alpine meadow.

Day 02 :

Chikka to Balugera (3,770m) (Trek for 4-5 hours)

Today you will be heading to Balugera which serves as the base camp for Hampta Pass. The way is full of sharp climbs all the way to Juara traversing a number of small streams. On the way stop to have lunch packed beforehand.

Day 03 :

Balugera to Shea Goru (3,815m) (5-6 hours) over Hampta Pass (4,270m)

Day 3 will bring the real challenge as you will be crossing the highest point of the trek i.e., Hampta pass 4,270m). The way to the top of the pass is going to be topsy-turvy with a few snow and rocky patches. As you reach the top, the feeling cannot be put into words. From the Hampta top, you can easily enjoy the mind-blowing view of the Pir Panjal peaks.

Day 04 :

Shea Goru to Chhatru (3,315m) (3-4 hours trek) & drive to Chandratal and back

On day 4, you will be crossing the river to turn right and continue your journey. You have to cross the river to arrive at the left bank of River Chandra which springs from the Bara Shigri glacier. From the left embankment, the way to Chhatru is straight walk on flatland. On your way, relish the beauty of nature and in no time you will reach Chhatru. From here we will be taking a taxi to Chandratal (2-3 hours), the moon shaped lake close to the quaint town of Batal. After spending some time here, we will be leaving for Chhatru.

Day 05 :

Chhatru to Manali (84 km by road 4-5 hours)

We will be starting early today to avoid the traffic at Rohtang Pass. Post breakfast, we will begin the road trip for Manali crossing Rohtang Pass.

Advanced Preparation

As everyone is becoming a frequent traveller now, we suggest that you make your own travel accessories kit to ensure a stress free holiday.
Always make sure to carry less and light luggage, use a four wheel small or medium suitcase and please make sure that you are carrying only one suitcase per person. This will ensure that you will travel smartly and without any inconveniences.
It is also recommended that you have one cross shoulder bag or haversack for your handy needs which will ensure that you are comfortable at the time of sightseeing and also easy for photography during your tour.
